Medical Mission
The International Children's Aid Foundation has its roots in a drive to bring much-needed medicine and medical supplies to doctors and hospitals in Romania. Facilities there are many years behind western standards, and many medications are in short supply, if available at all. As part of our outreach, we gather donated medications and equipment and ship it to Romania for use by Christian doctors in their service to the poor.
We have supplied a portable x-ray machine, twelve-lead ECG's, wheelchairs, crutches, orthotics, blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, syringes, needles, catheters, and sterile gloves, just to name a few.
On a monthly basis, we gather unexpired medical samples, break down the packaging, inventory, and prepare them for shipment by overseas containers. Each summer the mission teams sent by ICAF take a large quantity of supplies with them to use in our clinics which we hold in rural areas. Our patients are often surprised that we ask nothing in return, as is the custom, but rather that we have come in the Lord's name because he has called us to help heal the sick. It is a very tangible and satisfying witness.
